Another Love 03:10
Another Love Time alone is a time for change, broken hearted or feeling strange Where's the love that's meant for me? Where's a love that I know is free? Gone away, take heed and know it's not today. Greet the day and the day is cold, buy your time and you pay with gold Dreaming hard and I dream of you, waking up but I know it's true You've gone away, I take heed and know it's not today Another love has passed you by, or did you put it off again? Saw a chance and you had to try, for something more and then Never knowing what's inside, was it just pretend? Cause now it's time to say goodbye, I guess we've reached the end I guess we've reached the end Lost in time, the shadows grow, force myself to let you go Choose the path that's right for you, "I'll see you round" and you know I do But it's ok, take heed and know its not today A chance of love is all you need, to make you glow or make you bleed A lonely heart will have you feel, that every love you find is real But it's ok, take heed and know it's not today Another love has passed you by, or did you put it off again? Saw a chance and you had to try, for something more and then Never knowing what's inside, was it just pretend? Cause now it's time to say goodbye, I guess we've reached the end I guess we've reached the end

New Moon 03:14
New Moon Once you were free, now you're bound to a dream Once you would roam, now you're chained to a stone But like a love on the run the new moon comes Like a love on the run the new moon comes The new moon comes Dark is the time, that the moon doesn't shine Dark are the days that your fears come and play But like a love on the run the new moon comes Like a love on the run the new moon comes The new moon comes You can feel it, she will heal it, wash your blues away Always better when you let her, help you through the days Bringing good times and you could find, when the evening comes That her light is almost as bright and nearly as warm as the sun Oh when the new moon comes When the new moon comes

The Waiting Song A front comes rolling through again, feel the cold in you begin, edging to the bone A sudden rush of loneliness, feel that something is amiss, remember you're alone So much effort has gone un-offered, just trying to make a start Then you realise that you're vulnerable again, crippled by the heart I'm waiting, I'm waiting, waiting for my day Waiting, yeah I'm waiting, in so many ways I watch the time away Just watch the time away Out of hand and out of mind, as the caution left behind, haunts you with intent I know that something's coming, and wait for you to walk in, with open arms and heaven sent On a limb and by a thread, ever softly do I tread, making waves with no return I guess that's a way of living, guess that's a way of giving, you put it out or let it burn Well I'm waiting, I'm waiting, waiting for my day Waiting, yeah I'm waiting, in so many ways I watch the time away Just watch the time away

Missing you 03:31
Missing You Creep out of bed, try not to wake you from your sleep Turn to kiss you on the forehead feel your breath upon my cheek Sunlight hits the window, rise to see the eastern glow So long to the winter, good riddance to the snow I'm so happy waking up beside Don’t want to face the day that I decide to Pack up my things and travel on To be going back where I came from Walking in the evening, through the park and back again Crawling out your window watching shooting stars at two am Drinking wine and being fools, sit there howling at the moon Telling jokes and playing tunes, sleeping in 'til afternoon All the winter you kept me warm But as the spring comes I'm feeling torn in two Cause when the flowers start to bloom I know that I'll be leaving soon And missing you But I'm so happy waking up beside you Don’t want to face the day that I decide to Pack up my things and travel on To be going back where I belong I'm gonna miss you I'm going home I'm gonna miss you when I'm waking up alone I gave it all, you know its true And I've never even said I love you

Reflections 04:01
Reflections As I stare at the sky and wait for the answers to come Then remember I walk on a planet that orbits a sun Just a tear drop in a rainfall, just a grain of sand on a desert plain I've been here before, and I'll be here again I know that you fear your world will come to an end But I'd leave here today and have no regrets to defend How can you say that you've given up wondering "why?" From the smallest child to the strongest man we all die And what we see is reflected from a million years ago You think its real but its all a trick of the light You're struggling now, try to make sense of it all Watching the walls around you tumble and fall But the sun will set and the moon will rise, see a million stars in a crystal sky And darkness will shelter your mind How many souls have walked on the earth to this day? And how many times have lovers been felling this way? So how can you say you've given up wondering "why?" From the smallest child to the strongest man we all die And what we see is reflected from a million years ago You think its real but it's all a trick of the light

Alchemy 03:46
Alchemy Stay on the path, so you've been told They say in time your led will be gold Starving the heart and feeding the soul But your destination is not worth the toll The sky ahead is covered with haze And the road before you twists like a maze And so now, where do you go from here? Where do you go from here? As you look back, back in time Remember the places you stalled at the line Feeling so daunted by choices you made Feeling so haunted by roles that you played The past is always clear as day While the future remains so far away And so now, where do you go from here? Where do you go from here?

Chasing A Shadow Like chasing a shadow I see from afar, I walk in your footsteps to know who you are Looking for something that I'll never find, and piecing together your life in my mind I walk the streets of your old hometown, take in the sights and take in the sounds I'm thirty years late but you're still everywhere, I reach out for you but I'm just grabbing air Picture and stories, all I remember, faded by time, so long ago All those questions I wish I could ask you, all those answers I'll never know When I was younger, I didn't need you, life was easy, times were good Now I'm older, wish I was wiser, wish you'd taught me all that you could Maybe I'm stronger, maybe I'm colder, either way I'm still on the run Made my own way without a father, gave my best at being your son All life comes and goes, all hearts overflow Miss you now more than then, wish I knew you as a friend When I out on a limb and I need you around, when I'm taking a fall or losing my ground I know that you're here, helping me through, but there's nowhere to turn when I'm turning to you Like chasing a shadow I see from afar, I walk in your footsteps to know who you are Looking for something that I'll never find, and piecing together your life in my mind All life comes and goes, all hearts overflow I miss you now more than then, wish I knew you as a friend

Moving On 03:28
Moving On You know I won't be sorry for anything Never will be sorry for myself You know I won't be sorry for anything Cause I'm busy moving on Sometimes the best laid plans Melt like a snowflake in fire Leaving a hole inside a man that slowly is filled with desire You climb but you never get higher You know I won't be sorry for anything Never will be sorry for myself You know I won't be sorry for anything I never worry cause I'm busy moving on She comes in the dark of night when you might mistake her for dreams Carefully filling your heart with light, you know that she says what she means You hope that it is how it seems I said that I don’t care if your god is on my side Cause I've never learnt to fear and I'm not afraid to die I'd give it all away and start it all again Like just another day was coming to an end I'd give it all away and start it all again And I wouldn't blink an eye when I reach the end

about

Alchemy is the debut album from folk/roots songwriter Dave Calandra. Recorded over two years between New York and Sydney, it hints at influences like Nick Drake, Elliott Smith and Jeff Buckley while retaining a distinctively Australian sound.

Built around acoustic guitar and vocals, the organic production on the album creates continuity through the diverse collection of songs. Arrangements vary from solo-acoustic instrumentals to full-band acoustic rock, however there is a unifying warmth that ensures no song sounds out of place. Strong vocal melodies are supported by subtle finger-picking, while 'roomy' drum sounds embellish, rather than overpower the other instruments.

Dave Calandra is solo-acoustic performer from Sydney who has devoted the last thirty years to honing his 'rootsy folk-rock' sound. From 2000 to 2004 Dave relocated to New York to share his music with a foreign audience and found a wealth of inspiration in the East Village music venues. Although the New York music scene was extremely competitive it was also rewarding to be surrounded by other artists constantly creating new works.

The songs on Alchemy were inspired by the musical transition Dave underwent during this relocation. They express instantly recognizable feelings of longing and yearning, coupled with an acceptance that it's OK if things don't quite turn out the way you had hoped or expected. The understated production only adds to the intimacy between you and the music. These are songs that you will want to listen to again and again, and share with your friends.
